About

For almost 100 years, Young’s Produce has been delivering excellent products and services to the town of Alton and the surrounding areas.

The store was initially owned and started by a local, MM. Young, in 1928. The company started off as a general store by buying and selling live animals and carrying merchandise such as cloth,
beans, flour and sugar. In the 1950’s the business was sold to Ed and Helen Young, and they
established the first supermarket in Alton. Furthering their business they became a Purina dealer in 1953. Then in 1955 the mill was installed and the store began grinding and bagging feed while continuing their advancement into the sale of corn for livestock.

In the early 1960’s the business established a rail facility in Thayer, MO to import and export goods. The 60’s also brought a modernization of scales, which is still in use today. As the area
grew, there became a larger demand for the services we provide. Finally in 1975 the business was renamed to Young’s Produce Inc.

Today we still provide the excellent products and services that our customers require in their everyday needs.
